How We Choose
Last updated October 2026
We want you to trust every pick on this site. Here is exactly how we make them.
Two kinds of picks
- Tested by us: someone on our team used the product and wrote down real notes. These cards say "Tested by us."
- Researched pick: we did not use it ourselves. We studied the brand's details, ingredient lists, safety info, and what matters for that kind of product. These cards say "Researched pick."
We never say we tested something when we didn't.
What we look at
- Who the product is really for (teens, sensitive skin, thick hair, and so on).
- Ingredients and safety notes from the brand.
- Features that matter, like heat settings on a hair tool.
- Value for the price range.
- Downsides. Every pick should list what's not great about it.
What we never do
- Make up reviews, star ratings, review counts, or customer numbers.
- Show prices, deals, or "in stock" info we can't check. We say "Check price on Amazon" instead.
- Make medical promises. Talk to a doctor or dermatologist about skin conditions.
- Let a brand pay for a spot on our lists.
Teen picks
For teen guides we lean toward gentle, simple products and short routines. Parents are always welcome to read along.
How we make money
Some links go to Amazon. If you buy through them, we may earn a small commission. It never changes the price you pay. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Keeping things fresh
Every guide shows when it was last updated. We re-check links and picks over time.
